The Friends Of The Ecusta Trail (FOET) group is organizing their Volunteer base and looking for some dedicated individuals. We need some folks for a specific event coming up in June (the WNC Flyer ride, formerly known as the Fletcher Flyer), and we need Volunteers to staff information booths at local events.

WNC Flyer (Formerly the Fletcher Flyer)

For the 2017 WNC Flyer, the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club reached out to FOET to partner and share the profits with them! In exchange for a $2000 award, they have asked that FOET supply at least 20 persons over that age of 18 that can devote between 3 and 5 hours on the day of the WNC Flyer. You can learn more about the WNC Flyer here.

Tasks that we will need help with that day include:

  • Assisting cyclists at key intersections
  • Set-up and take down tables and tents on the day of the event
  • Assist in directing parking
  • Rider packet preparation and pick-up

Please contact us if you can dedicate 3 to 5 hours on Sunday June 4th. You will be guided on what to do, where to be and when; it is a fun and easy volunteering opportunity that will help raise $2,000 for the Ecusta Trail!

Additional Volunteer Opportunities

We need Volunteers who can help us periodically with events. We would like to hear from you if you are interested in becoming one of our Volunteers who can staff an information booth at local events. To prepare you for this, you will be invited to attend a short training session in Brevard or Hendersonville, and FOET will provide refreshments. The purpose of the meeting will be to show you the information materials that we typically use in the booths, and provide you with basic knowledge about the Ecusta Trail so that you can answer general questions from the Public. There is also a wealth of knowledge about the trail on the website, ecustatrail.org that will help you prepare. The goal is not to turn you into a detailed expert, but to guide you to a point of being comfortable with questions you are likely to be asked, and to be familiar with how to set up for booths and what to do with our materials. Quite often, you will be in the booth with an FOET Board Member.

Events would include:

  • The White Squirrel Festival in Brevard
  • 4th of July
  • Halloween
  • Christmas Parades/Festivals
  • Rhythm and Brews Evenings in Hendersonville

These events take place in both Brevard and Hendersonville. This list covers the types of events where we hope to be present. Additional events are subject to be added.

We need people who are willing and able to put in the time to attend an Orientation Meeting, and who are comfortable making a firm commitment for Festival dates for specific time periods. Please email us if you are interested in Volunteering for the WNC Flyer on June 4th, and/or if you are interested in becoming a FOET Volunteer:
